CLASS'ART INTENSIVE DRAWING

- donner aux étudiants une maîtrise des fondamentaux en vue de constituer un dossier qui permettent de présenter d’autres écoles ;

YEAR 1

YEARS 2 & 3

BACHEL'ART DRAWING AND PAINTING

The Bachel’art is the flagship degree offered by the Paris Academy of Art.

The degree is conferred after three years of study, including rigorous academic coursework and intensive studio experience. Students are guided in the cultivation of technical knowledge and the refinement of visual skills.

A small student-faculty ratio ensures that students receive maximum attention and one-on-one instruction.

Admission into the Bachel’Art program is highly competitive. In addition to a portfolio (from 3 to 10 pictures), applicants are asked to submit a one-page personal statement that reflects influences, interests and motivations for applying to the Paris Academy of Art.

Instruction is conducted in English, and students are expected to have a working knowledge of the language.

Year 1

The second year is a bridge between drawing and painting. This is the year in which students learn how to handle a paintbrush. It begins with the study of grisaille casts in the first quarter, followed by colour the rest of the year.

Half of the day is dedicated to a long pose with a live model and the other half to studying casts. New, less rigid techniques are studied in sketching.

Year 2

The third year represents the transition from black and white to colour. The programme follows the first-year schedule, but still lifes are studied in place of casts. Students must produce five still lifes with different subjects and using different methods. They must also produce three paintings of live models. As for sketching, the emphasis is on making more personal choices, both in terms of techniques and of representation.

SUMMER SCHOOL

6 WEEKS INTENSIVE PROGRAM

Join the Paris Academy of Art for six weeks of complete immersion in our programmes and methods of instruction.

Discover the various steps to excellence in the academic process by following a programme that closely echoes that of our students.

Working from a live model for several weeks in a long pose is an enriching experience that is unique to Paris. Each afternoon is dedicated to doing so, while mornings are divided into three parts: an introduction on Bargues copies, pencil drawings from ancient casts and a method for producing colour still lifes.

Fridays will be dedicated to studying portraiture.

At the end of this summer school a jury will be held to discuss and comment upon students’ work.

5 places are available.

Teaching is conducted in English and students are expected to have a working knowledge of the language.

Below 50% of participants the course is canceled. The accommodation is not included.

€ 2 800    Deposit: 1 600 euros to registration. Balance: 1 month before the program.
